The itinerary
Day 1
Lisbon · Bombarral
Departure from Lisbon by microbus mid-morning and an hour through open countryside to Quinta dos Loridos, better known for the Buddha Eden garden planted among its vines.
Days 2–3
Coimbra · Buçaco
The old university city and its library, then up into the Buçaco forest and the neo-Manueline palace hotel at its centre.
Days 4–5
Porto · Vila Nova de Gaia
The port lodges across the river, a vintage tasting, and the granite city itself on foot.
Days 6–7
Régua · Pinhão
Up the valley by road and rail to the quintas above Pinhão, with tastings on the terraces and a farewell dinner over the river.
